Anything told to a doctor is confidential unless you have an illness they need to know about or are harming yourself or endangered.

I know they wont ask. They know that it is normal with both sexes and pretty much universal in teen years. Stats say 80 percent of males and 70 of females engage in it at one point in life. Relax and know there isnt anything to be ashamed of.

Parents also are wise to this and probably suspect you are and it wont phase them. But relax the doctor cant tell nor does he or she have concern. They know teens are embarased about it. There is no way to tell either unless you mention it.
The one thing to remember is that even if they wont admit it the vast majority of friends, peers and others you know are also doing tnis. It is normal.

All the doctors I have went to have never asked that so I believe that you are safe. But most likely they are just gonna assume that you do, because most teens and adults do, so there isn't any shame if you do and people find out because most likely the doctor that is asking you also does. If they do you can tell them its none of their business. Go to the doctors because it will be good for you in the long run, and Good Luck!

If you are 14 years of age or older you do not have to worry about any questions a doctor might ask you concerning your reproductive system. I will explain why below shortly.

To answer your question doctors will only ask question relevant to what problems you present to them and then based on their examination of you and what they may see upon examination. So it is unlikely that a Doctor is going to ask you if you masturbate. It is more likely based on whatever problem you present with that the doctor will ask if you are sexually active. All a doctor can tell by examination is that your Hyman may be ruptured. In today’s world through activities and use of Tampons a woman's Hyman can be ruptured without ever experiencing sex.

What is important is to answer the doctors’ questions truthfully so that the doctor may properly care for you. To make this possible Congress passed a law giving anyone 14 years of age or older Medical Confidentiality. What this means for you specifically is you do not have to wait until you live on your own to see a doctor?

Because this law gives medical confidentiality parents cannot know anything about doctor’s visits related to any visit for problems related to the reproductive system. This includes the urinary track as well since it requires the examination of either the male or female sex organ which is part of the reproductive system.

The law is called HIPPA; under this law parents may not be in the exam room with their child, may not be told what the doctor is examining their child for or what the doctor treats them for. The only way they can be told is if their child gives the doctor written consent to tell them. Parents cannot force a child to undergo any examination or treatment; this includes abortions or stop any exam or treatment. All the person over 14 needs to tell the doctor is they are invoking their rights under HIPPA. The doctor and or the staff will protect your rights from there.

Also under this law anyone 14 years of age does not need parental permission to see a doctor. The may make an appointment to see a doctor, be treated by the doctor all without parental permission or knowledge. They can see any doctor of their choosing or go to any of the women's or free medical clinics. Birth control is also available and does not need parental permission.

Congress did not pass this aw to promote teenage sex. They passed this law so teenagers would go to doctors or clinics for answers to questions they might be too embarrassed to ask their parents. To go to see a doctor if something was bothering them related to their reproductive system.

In short there is no reason not to take proper care of your reproductive system while you live at home. Cancer and other illnesses know no age limits. Proper preventative care of your reproductive system now will insure that you will have the ability to have Children in the future.

Just remember when you see the doctor to say "I want MY HIPPA RIGHTS." If mom was intending to go in to the exam room with you she will be told to wait in the waiting room and whatever you and the doctor discuss stays in the exam room. It cannot go back to mom or the doctor is looking at 5 years in Jail.

I doubt they would ever ask unless it was absolutely specific to the problem you approached them about. It's possible that some girls or guys could irritate or even slightly damage their genitals with some ill-advised practice when masturbating. Curiosity might lead a girl to vaginally insert some completely inappropriate object for instance and made herself very sore...I'm sure many doctors have come across it at some time, aren't you? In which case, yes a frank discussion about masturbating will be on the menu, along eith treatment. And yes, a doctor has every right to ask if you are sexually active in some cases. Diagnosing possible sexually transmitted infections or pregnancy for instance (both impossible if you are not, so the doc will want to know whether to rule them out or include them in). I should say doctors assume that girls and guys at or after puberty are masturbating, if they think about it at all. We ALL did/do! If it has no bearing whatsoever on the complaint you're seeing the doctor about then it won't eneter their mind. And he/she won't ask you. If by any chance he/she does need to know then just say 'yes I am'. I PROMISE you the doctor will not be horrified and shocked. Will the doctor issue a random letter or a make a phone call to your parents telling them you're masturbating the minute you leave the surgery. No, they will not. In fact parents are well aware that their children masturbate, but it's not something that's usually discussed. It's not 'wrong' in any way, but it IS very private. Chatting about it with same sex mates might be acceptable, but in honesty few people discuss it at length with parents. We need to look after our health, that includes sexual health. For goodness sake don't put off a trip to a doctor for fear of him/her asking if you masturbate or the possibility of your mum finding out!! The doctor won't even ask unless it's absolutely key to a diagnosis, and your parents will not be shocked or horrified at you masturbating in any case. There's no age of consent issues by the way. If you know what it is, and you're doing it and enjoying it then it's OK to be doing it and enjoying it.

Some Doctors might ask you if you have been sexually active. However if you are a female and depending on what type of physical pain you may have or if you are going to have surgery or any standard procedure. They will ask you too give a urine sample for a pregnancy test regardless if you have been sexually active or not. I have never known any doctor to ask if someone was Masturbating or not.
