We want to take this space now and let you know that we are deeply sorry for the several outages that happened last month. At the same time we are also grateful to all of you for staying with us and helping us resolve it, we couldn’t have done it without you.
It was a mistake from our side. On 26th of July we took out an update for Android & Server. We had very high expectations, we were working on it for little over 2 months: we almost halved the app size, redid the user interface bringing our prominent features upfront and even made the app sturdy. For a week or so since our launch we received awesome feedback and gave us the confidence that we hit the right spot.
But then something happened, our servers crashed. For a while we couldn’t figure out the exact reason because on the surface everything seemed normal. Later we realized our database was not returning the queries due to excessive calls. We had a piece of code which monitored the status of computers, which made it easy for you to access your computer outside of your wifi network. The mistake was ours as we failed to optimize the server for this kind of interaction. We always wanted to build server independent systems, we used servers only to connect the devices. After days of work finally we were able to solve it. We redid the entire server architecture, and separated out the part which consumed most CPU and Database interactions. Our team was scrambling day & night to get this resolved.
Among all this hectic schedule what we couldn’t miss was your love for AirStream. We know that some of you couldn’t use it for weeks still you held on to it. You communicated at every instance

Here is how one AirStream user, David went to the extent of taking his time out to repackage our Desktop client for a certain Linux version, and uploading it to their app repository. All this with our permission.
Thank you very much David, you are our motivation and you keep us going :)

Hello!
I really like your product, but I have noticed it doesn’t yet have a specific installer for ArchLinux which is a my current distribution of choice. I hope you don’t mind me taking the initiative in making and submitting such an installer to the Arch user repository (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/airstream/). It only downloads the latest linux jar from your page and adds a simple script and a .desktop file for easier launching.
Well it doesn’t matter much since we can’t carry more than few GB’s in our phone or tablet. And we know the inconvenience of syncing our music with our Computer. We have other alternatives, but what is better than our personal music collection - its free, we have carefully curated it over the years and most importantly we own it.
And isn’t it an interesting irony of 21st century, we have our computers & hard-drives where we keep our songs and we have smartphones which we carry with us all the time and there is still no easy way to connect them. Well, maybe we have an answer.
