ECFVG certification program

Welcome!

The Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates® (ECFVG®) certification program is accepted by all U.S. state veterinary regulatory boards and the U.S. federal government as meeting, either in part or full, the educational prerequisite for licensure or certain types of employment.

The ECFVG certification program consists of four steps designed to be completed in order:

The status of the ECFVG program will be updated and communicated through the ECFVG online system directly. Throughout the process you will be receiving emails from ECFVG@avma.org. Please be sure to configure your email or spam filter rules to ensure that emails from this address will be delivered to your inbox.

If you are an existing candidate in the program, a current AVMA member, or final year SAVMA student who wishes to participate in the program, click "Sign in". Otherwise, click "Register" to begin the certification process.

It is very important that you only use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser to sign into your ECFVG online account. Firefox and Safari browsers and mobile devices are not compatible with the ECFVG online system.

Please be advised that the ECFVG encourages candidates to check their account status on a regular basis by logging on to the ECFVG system. However, excessive logins are discouraged and unnecessary, and may result in the AVMA temporarily disabling the candidate's account. The AVMA and ECFVG take the security of candidate data very seriously and are fully committed to taking appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the ECFVG system. For data security purposes, candidates are prohibited from using automated login technology. In addition, candidates are strongly urged not to share their password with third parties who will login on their behalf. Excessive logins or using multiple devices are often an indication that someone may be attempting to gain unauthorized access to the system. When the AVMA detects such activity, the affected candidate's account may be temporarily disabled until the AVMA can determine if the login attempts are fraudulent or legitimate.
