6 rebels killed in Kunduz military operation

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least six militants were killed and two others wounded following a clearance operation in northeastern Kunduz province, said officials on Wednesday.

Col. Mohammad Nadir, an army officer, was quoted by Pajhwok Afghan News, as saying that the operation was launched in a Gor Tepa area near the Kunduz city two days back, adding that two villages were cleared of militants in the operation their hideouts were destroyed.

He said that six rebels were killed and two others wounded in the operation.

He added that a policeman was also wounded, but civilians suffered no casualty in the crackdown.

Spokesman for the Taliban militant group, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed that two army tanks were destroyed and three security personnel were killed in Kunduz city.
