Cowboys 2015 Free Agents: Who Is Left? Should Dallas Be Interested?

The list of high-profile free agents has dwindled dramatically.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Now that we're a couple of weeks into free agency, the frenzy had died down to a trickle. Signings are still happening, but most of the big-name free agents are gone. There are a few names left, though. So let's take a look at who is out there and if Dallas could be interested. As of now, the Cowboys are pushing up against the cap, but could still find relief through some re-structures and re-doing Brandon Carr's contract. So we'll assume they could make room for acquiring some more players if they so choose.

First, the Cowboys own free agents.

LB Rolando McClain: There are two prevailing theories going around on McClain. One is that the Cowboys don't trust McClain, meaning his health and his ability to stay out of trouble. As the season wore on, they got less and less out of him, so they are not interested in bringing him back. The second theory is that the Cowboys are just biding their time since McClain is getting no action on the free agency market and that as his price comes down, they'll scoop him up at a bargain rate. We'll just have to wait and see.

DE Anthony Spencer: The Cowboys would surely like Spencer back, but only at a bargain price. Since Spencer has seen some action on the open market, he's probably still holding out for his best deal. Dallas is playing a game of chicken with him right now.

S C.J. Spillman: With his special teams skills, it's interesting that he hasn't gotten a deal somewhere.

OT Tony Hills: The Cowboys have a glut of unproven backup tackles, Hills would be another.

LB James Anderson: Don't really see the Cowboys re-signing him unless they do it much later at a vet minimum deal.

FB Tyler Clutts: With two new fullbacks signed, Clutts is a goner.

Now who is still out there. Here is a list of "bigger" names in no particular order.

WR Michael Crabtree
WR Denarius Moore
WR Hakeem Nicks
WR Greg Jennings
WR Wes Welker

T Joe Barksdale
T Anthony Collins
T Jake Long

C Stefen Wisniewski

G Justin Blalock

TE Jermaine Gresham

LB Brandon Spikes
LB Mason Foster
LB Lance Briggs

DT Red Bryant
DT B.J. Raji
DT Barry Cofield
DT C.J. Mosley

DE Dwight Freeney
DE Jarvis Jenkins

RB Stevan Ridley
RB Pierre Thomas
RB Knowshon Moreno

CB Charles Tillman

There might be some interest of names from that list when their prices come down. There are several veteran tackles available, so if the Cowboys want to sign a vet swing tackle, they certainly have a few options. If they don't re-sign McClain, could they be interested in a few of the linebackers still available? Brandon Spikes is a big-time run-stuffer and Mason Foster is a serviceable player. There is a trio of running backs available, with Steven Ridley of particular interest, Dallas had reportedly inquired about him earlier in free agency. They could also look at a defensive tackle vet if so inclined.

So, based on that list, or other free agents available, is there anybody still out there the Cowboys should target?
