Chase BMX's, Joris Daudet wins the Men's Elite Class both days at USABMX Desoto!
Chase BMX - Race Report - Super Nationals - Desoto, TX ..... Joris Daudet wins the Men's Elite Class both days!

Round #3 of the USA BMX Pro Series took to the perfectly manicured Desoto, TX BMX track this past weekend. This work of art BMX track and facility always hosts a great round of National caliber racing. The covered Desoto arena gives the riders the piece of mind about the weather conditions, which can take a turn in a matter of seconds deep in the heart of Texas.

Joris Daudet has had some great performances in his past few USA BMX Events with placing 2nd at last weekends USA BMX North American Supercross event. Joris was looking to continue his podium appearances at the end of the race day and on Friday night, he did just that. With a stacked Pro class, Joris took the lead from the gate drop, taking the hole shot award and the lead, all the way to the line for his first USA BMX Pro Series National Main event win of the year! Tailgating Joris in 3rd was DHR/Chase Pro Anthony Dean.

On Day 2, it was once again a day dominated by the Chase sponsored riders. Joris again rode strong and smooth all the way to once again take hole shot award and the impressive win in the Elite Mens Class. DHR Pro Anthony Dean stepped it from Day 1, with a ultra impressive lap in the main event, just finishing behind Joris, in the 2nd overall spot for the day.

The Dale Holmes Racing Pro Team was on fire in Desoto as well, with Dani George winning the Elite Women’s Class on Day 1 and in Elite Men, it was Anthony Dean finishing in 3rd on Day 1 and 2nd on Day 2. With Desoto in the rear view mirror, it is now time to prepare for the 2015 UCI World Cup tour, that kicks off in just a few weeks in the UK.

Joris, Connor and the DHR Pros will head to Europe to get ready for the start of 2015 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup tour in Manchester. Connor will be racing next weekend in Zolder, Belgium at the BMX European Cup.

BMX Racing News - weekend update - March 27-29, 2015

JORIS DAUDET AND CONNOR Fields BOTH ON THE PODIUM AT ROCK HILL, SC.
Round #2 of the USA BMX Pro National tour was a premier stop for the series, as it was the inaugural USA BMX North American Supercross tour stop. For 2015, USA BMX has added in 4 Supercross race track stops, that are intergraded with the traditional races throughout the 2015 USA BMX Pro championship title chase. The USA BMX series headed to Rock Hill in 2014 for the East Coast Gold Cup finals and the riders and fans alike got a taste of one of, if not the best BMX racing facilitie in the USA. With both SX and traditional BMX hills and separate stairways for the the pro riders, this is the future of BMX and will be another great training facility located in the USA. This would be a huge weekend for the riders, as 3 separate events would keep the USA riders busy. Here is how the weekend went for the Chase BMX Pro team riders:

The weekend had a slightly different format this weekend, with the USA National Championship kicking things off on Friday night. The best of the USA Elite BMX pro riders would all battle it out for the USA Cycling National Championship. Connor, the 2014 USAC National Champion was looking to retain his title and rode well throughout the day, winning each and every event right up to the main event. When the gate dropped for the final, as we all know, its about perfect timing if you want to beat the best in BMX. Connor was just a tad bit early, hit the gate and it looked like he would be in the back of the entire lap. But Connor is one of the most determined riders in BMX that you will ever meet and even though he was in 8th place down the first straightaway, he fought his way back to the front of the pack by the finish and would come in 3rd for the day, with a great comeback performance. Its not the finish that Connor wanted, but its the will and desire that we all want to see from a top Pro, showing that never give up attitude, and it was excellent to see that from Connor!

Day 2 was the USA BMX Supercross event. This was opened up to the all Elite riders. What rider would not want to be lined up on the gate for the $20,000 Elite mens pro purse that would be distributed throughout the riders in the main event. Joris would now join Connor on track, and was looking his usual ultra smooth self around the Rock Hill SX track. Connor was once again on top form and both Chase BMX riders made their way through the qualifiers and into the ultra stacked main event. With both Joris and Connor in the main event, the Chase fans were excited and the boys did not disappoint. As the gate dropped, it was Sam Willoughby with the hole shot, but Joris and Connor were right on his rear Tioga Powerblock. Joris was close, unable to pass Sam, but still impressed the fans with a 2nd place finish and Connor did as well with a 3rd place finish. Another great result for both the Chase Pros, with both riders on the Podium. Its early on in the season, but Connor holds the points lead in the overall USA BMX Pro title chase.

Day 3 was the North American Continental Championships and Connor was the lone Chase rider that was able to compete. With bad weather on the way USA BMX compressed the racing for the Pros, letting the Elites have the best track conditions as possible. This was a great move, as when the main event for the Elites was lined up on the gate, the weather was still perfect and would not be a factor in the outcome. The major force though for the main event, was hurricane Fields, as he blasted the gate start, and took to the front of the pack. Justin Posey put in a bid in for a great race battle, but Connor pull ahead of him, cleared him, and then was out front and untouchable for the remainder of the lap. Connor capped of this great weekend with the North American Continental Championship title and the win.

The riders now get ready to kick off a bit more racing, as next weekend Joris will head over to Texas for the next round of the USA BMX Pro series tour, while Connor will head to Europe to race at the sight of the 2015 World Championships race, just before the opening round of the 2015 UCI BMX World Cup tour in Manchester in just 3 weeks.

Thanks to all of the great sponsors of the Chase Bicycles Pro team : Shimano, Tioga BMX, Fly Racing, Kicker Audio, ODI Grips, G-Form Protection, KMC Chains, Vans, Stealth Hubs, Elevn, Excess, Insight, Kingstar, and Thomson.

CAROLINE Buchanan Brings Balance Bikes to Oz

London BMX Olympian, Caroline Buchanan is hopeful of a berth at the next Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro but right now her focus is on developing Olympians of the future.

This weekend Buchanan will reveal her new Signature Balance Bike which has just hit the shores. The fluorescent coloured miniature bikes are aimed at getting youngsters between 2 – 5 years old riding. The new DK Balance Bikes will be on show and ready for action at the ACT BMX State Championships in Tuggeranong.

The balance bike is small. It has a seat but no cranks which allows children to bypass training wheels. They sit on the seat and push or they can put their feet on the rear chain stays and learn to stand up. It is an ideal starting bike giving young riders a chance to learn to balance and control a bike.

“This is where the real grassroots of all cycling and motor sports really begins,” explained Buchanan. “It gets children active earlier which has health benefits but also it gets them learning to balance on a bike.”

Despite using training wheels herself and getting into BMX when she was 5 years old, Buchanan believes this push to get even younger riders on bikes could pay off at Olympic level.

The global scene has also changed with World Championships for this age group on similar bikes being held in Sarasota, USA this year. Japan has one of the largest groups of youngsters competing on balance bikes. The Australian BMX national body has introduced a mini-wheeler category to many of its race programmes.

With the introduction of balance bikes the cycling industry is heading into an exciting era. The total cost of Buchanan’s new Signature Balance bike will be $ 159. Helmets are also required.

“I can’t wait to show the rest of Australia what these little ones can do. They are just so excited to be on a track,” said Buchanan.

“This could be the start of something amazing. Kids will remember their first ride, their first race and later their first jump and even their first podium. It all starts on a balance bike.”
