High Stakes

The songs in this five-track sophomore EP represent a number of personal transformations in my style. Now a few years into playing electric bass as a lead instrument, I utilized it as the primary writing tool for all of these songs. I experimented with lush and varied vocal harmonies, taking a more maximal approach in contrast to my first album. I kept the collaborator pool on this album small and very focused, while returning to a fertile co-production relationship with Eric Salt.

This debut EP presents a pairing of two overlapping artistic periods for me: the first creating folk music on an acoustic guitar, and the second moving toward pop-rock on an electric bass guitar. It is co-produced by Eric Salt, a relationship that began in the Lizard Lounge parking lot after he heard me perform at one of my first open mics in Boston. I worked with a wide range of collaborators, constructing a style and set of voices for each individual song, as opposed to the tighter stylistic setting of High Stakes.
