I was looking for a local and cozy hostel and Ruthensteiner did not disappoint at all! There are people from all over the world and every age and it was impossible to not connect right away. You get in and feel like at home. There is free great lemonade at the reception and I really appreciated the "pay what you wish" -dinner. The rooms are fitted with electronic, roomcard-controlled lockers and the hostel seems overall very modern and fair in every way. I liked the online check in feature as well, it speed up the check in process on site. The staff is very friendly and helpful and I got to give a shoutout to Thor, who lend me his rain jacket so I could go hiking. Highly appreciated! This will forever be my go to hostel whenever I'll be in Vienna.

Can't wait to get back!EVERYTHING WAS EXCEPTIONAL!! The atmosphere of this hostel, cleanliness (fresh sheets, towels), value for money, quick check-in, all info about the hostel and Vienna at hand, a huge variety of activities to do and integrate guests at the hostel. everything is thought through, one has a private locker in mixed 6-people room with a socket in it(!). Loved the patio (green and quiet) as well as the common room with pillows to sit comfortably. there's no other place I'd rather returned to in whole Vienna, absolutely recommendAt times bathroom floor was slightly dirty, but no wonder - it was a 6-people room, can't get everyone to pay attention to cleanliness

This was my first hostel experience so I was a little nervous. But it was a really great place and amazing time! The beds were comfortable and the staff very helpful. There is a roomy kitchen and space to eat. It’s a clean and nice place to stay!

Four stars, leaning towards three.Pros: quiet, warm atmosphere, and our room (with a full bed and sink) was clean. The room darkening curtains meant a good night of sleep! Appreciated the delicious, in-house gluten free waffles for breakfast. And the bar area was bustling every night without being noisy. A good environment if you want to meet people. Easy location to take public transit around the city.Cons: the quality of breakfast varies with the chef, and on our final day it took 38 minutes to get our whole order (waffles, eggs, and a coffee). We we ended up missing our train to our next destination. Also, the two toilets in our area, serving 5 rooms, did not have hand soap for 3 of the 4 days of our stay. Didn’t point it it at reception - kept assuming they would clean and notice.I would stay here again, but I’d be more vocal about having the little issues solved.

”Hostel Ruthensteiner was refreshingly personal, cozy and fun. While brainstorming about an article on the hostel, me and my friends decided to list the positives and negatives. However, we ended up with a long list of positives…”

”After a smooth check in I meander deeper into the hostel and find not one but two interior gardens, where peaceful plants climb the walls and wrap oak benches, tables and chairs in a soft embrace.  A hand carved, oversized wooden chess set sits on the patio and groups of weary, contented travelers relax with a drink…”

” I fell in love with the magnificent artwork all around the hostel. Art is a prominent part of Vienna’s culture and the hostel reflects an understanding of the culture by featuring various pieces of art from both domestic and international artists.”

”Hostel RuthensAmbassador-banner-blog-220x220teiner has a great bar that is rounded which makes it nearly impossible to not make friends with those sitting around you because you are nearly looking at them anyhow.  The hostel is not a party hostel, but rather more of a relaxed atmosphere setting where gentle music plays when someone in the common area is not entertaining with one of the musical instruments hanging on the wall…”
